Roger Bacon

Roger Bacon, a former Issaquah resident and 1966 graduate of Issaquah High School, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at his home in Newark, Calif. He was 60.

A former United States Marine, Roger moved to California in 1970. He worked as a mechanic for United Airlines for 35 years, retiring in 2003. Retirement didn’t sit well with Roger, so he started a new career with the Newark Police Department, running the Newark red light camera program with energy and dedication. Of all of his jobs, this was his favorite.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Marna and Ray Bacon.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years Patricia, of Newark; sons Roger Bacon Jr., of Alaska, William Beban, of Plumas Lake, Calif., and Joseph Bacon, of Newark; daughter Kimberley Ziegler, of Alaska; five grandchildren; five siblings; and his first wife, Pamela.

He will be buried in Russian River Cemetery in Ukiah, Calif.
