Community members donated $323,000 to the Issaquah Schools Foundation at its Nourish Every Mind Luncheon Oct. 16.

More than 850 community members, teachers and district officials attended the event at the Issaquah Community Center.

“We were delighted with the results,” said Robin Callahan, executive director for the foundation. “We thought people were extraordinarily generous in this difficult economic time.”

All proceeds from the luncheon go toward supporting several district-wide programs, like the VOICE Mentor program, which pairs students with adult community members who act as tutors and mentors, or CLUB 7, an after-school program for middle school students having difficulty with course work.

The donations also fund the Kateri Brow Big Idea and Classroom Enrichment grants, given to several teachers every spring.
