The Issaquah School Board has appointed Chad Magendanz to fill its vacant Director District 4 position.
The board select Magendanz at its meeting Tuesday night, after its second round of interviews.
Magendanz is a design lead for a software company based in Kirkland and a parent volunteer in schools, as well as active in educational advocacy groups, like Stand for Children and the PTSA.
Five area residents applied for the position: Magendanz, Carla Wigen, Steven Ellis, Margaret (Peggy) Moe and Jeffrey Wood.
All five answered a variety of questions posed by school board members Oct. 20 during initial interviews.
The board could’ve selected a candidate then, but instead decided to vote for candidates at the Oct. 22 regular meeting, where they narrowed the field to Magendanz and Wigen.
The position was left vacant when Mike Winkler resigned Sept. 11.
Magendanz will represent the Issaquah Highlands, Issaquah downtown core, Preston, Mirrormont and Tiger Mountain areas. He will serve the remainder of Winkler’s term, through November 2009.
The new candidate will be sworn into office at the Nov. 12 board meeting.
