Public meeting for First Stage overhaul

November 4, 2008

By Staff

The Development Commission will hold a public meeting Nov. 5 regarding the Village Theatre’s proposal to reconstruct the existing First Stage Theatre.

The meeting is set for 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall South, 135 E. Sunset Way.

So far, no formal development permit applications have been submitted for the project and no decisions will be made at this meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to generate discussion, raise issues and propose creative options prior to submittal of permits for the project.

The First Stage building is used for rehearsal and for children’s theater productions. It does not have a foundation and is in need of major remodeling.

The reconstruction would provide a safe building that will provide the same image as the existing building at the time it was constructed, according to project proponents. First Stage Theatre is at 120 Front St. N. in the Olde Town subarea.
