Famed clown J.P. Patches will make an in-store appearance tonight at Front Street Market.
He’ll appear and sign autographs from 5-6 p.m. as part of an event celebrating the remodeling of the grocery store, said Lori Steendahl, store manager.
“Everybody loves J.P. Patches,” she said. “That’s a great way to tell if someone is from here, if they remember J.P. Patches.”
Patches is a clown portrayed by Seattle entertainer Chris Wedes. From 1958-1981, “The J.P. Patches Show” appeared on KIRO-TV. At the time, it was the longest-running locally produced children’s television program in the U.S.
Wedes’ daughter lives in Issaquah and shops at Front Street Market, Steendahl said.
“I thought he’d be great to have at a store celebration,” she said. “We’re just excited that he’s coming here.”
