Overlake Hospital Medical Center announced today that its Medical Center Issaquah would move to new quarters in the soon-to-be-built Overlake Center at 5728 E. Lake Sammamish Parkway.
The news had been expected since August, when details of the project were presented to the Development Commission.
Overlake’s Medical Center Issaquah will be the anchor tenant, leasing 9,300 square feet for its Urgent Care Clinic, Anticoagulation Clinic, Breast Health and Women’s Services, primary care physicians’ offices and a classroom.
Other tenants for the complex include a 24 Hour Fitness gym and a Bartell Drug Store.
Construction of the development started in October and should be finished in summer 2009, said Overlake spokeswoman Karen Johnson. The existing Issaquah medical center location, in a leased building on Northeast Gilman Boulevard, will be vacated.
Overlake is making the move to gain space, improve access and visibility, and provide room for future expansion, CEO Craig Hendrickson said in a news release.
The new development will consist of six new buildings and one remodeled structure on formerly industrial property. They will be built of concrete masonry blocks in a mix of earthy textures and colors, with window awnings, sun screens and canopies.
Elsewhere on the site, wetlands will be restored and reconnected, while some paved areas will be removed and converted to buffers.
