Red Cross opens emergency shelter in Preston

NEW — 7:36 p.m. November 12, 2008

As rivers continue to rise and threaten Puget Sound communities, the American Red Cross is opening shelters for Western Washington residents affected by rising floodwaters. The shelter for King County is in Preston.

Residents are asked to bring toiletries, including toothpaste, blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, clothing, towels and washcloths. Pets are not allowed in shelters.

Residents in King County can go to the Preston Park Community Center, 8625 310th Ave. S.E., in Preston.
