Liberty High School’s Patriot Players present Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” Nov. 20-22.
In sunny Messina, Italy, audiences are thrown into a comedy of romantic errors as two young lovers — Hero, played by Caitie Mae Ryberg, and Claudio, played by Erik Wolf-Rowland — wait for their wedding day. To pass time, they try to match-make two of their love-reluctant friends, Beatrice, played by Liv Baumgartner, and Benedick, played by Greg Gauthier. But the treacherous mind of Don Jon, the prince’s brother, seeks to unravel Hero and Claudio’s love while they’re busy setting their lovers trap.
“‘Much Ado’ is one of the most wonderful plays ever written, and I knew we had people who could fill the key roles this year, so I very happily went for it,” said director Katherine Klekas.
“I’ve always been interested in Shakespeare, because it is good literature. It’s classic,” Wolf-Rowland said. “I’ve seen the tragedies, but never a comedy, like this here.”
“It’s funny and it’s fun,” Baumgartner added.
