Chad Magendanz was sworn into office at the Issaquah School Board’s Nov. 12 meeting.

Superintendent Steve Rasmussen administered the oath.

The position was left vacant by the resignation of Mike Winkler.

School board members selected Magendanz, from four other candidates, to fill the District 4 position Oct. 28. He’ll represent the Issaquah Highlands, Issaquah downtown core, Preston, Mirrormont and Tiger Mountain areas.

“This is an important responsibility and the fact the community placed this responsibility on me, I don’t take that lightly,” Magendanz said.

Magendanz is a design lead for a software company based in Kirkland and a parent volunteer in schools, as well as active in educational advocacy groups, like Stand for Children and the PTSA.

He will serve the remainder of Winkler’s term, through November 2009. During his interviews, he said he intends to run for re-election.
