Skyline soccer team wins first state title

The Skyline girls’ soccer team is Washington state Class 4A champions after beating Woodinville 2-0 in the title game Nov. 22 at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood.

The girls won it on a goal in the first half, off the foot of sophomore midfielder Alisha Connors, and then on another in the second from junior midfielder Coral Anderson.

“Tonight, the girls were up to the challenge,” Skyline head coach Don Braman said after the game.

Skyline shutout every team in its four-game state tournament run and finished with a record of 15-2-2. Woodinville finished 14-4-1 on the season.

The Skyline and Issaquah football teams each won their quarterfinal contests Nov. 22 to advance to the semifinal round this weekend. 

Skyline will play Ferris at 1 p.m. Nov. 29 at Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane and Issaquah plays Central Kitsap at 4 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Tacoma Dome.
