Overlake Alumnae Panhellenic’s annual Scholarship Luncheon is Dec. 3 at Overlake Golf & Country Club, 8000 N.E. 16th, Medina. Bridge begins at 10 a.m.; the luncheon is at 12:30 p.m. Cost of the event is $35 and includes a donation to the Scholarship Fund. Seating is limited. Learn more at www.overlakealumnaepanhellenic.org.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new 19,500-square-foot Sammamish Library is at 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at 825 228th Ave. S.E., adjacent to the Sammamish Commons. The new library should be completed in 2010. Call 369-3276.The Issaquah History Museums hosts a hike to the Issaquah and Superior mines Dec. 7. Volunteer Stephen Grate leads the interpretive hike, providing a narration of Issaquah’s mining past and the community’s early history. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Issaquah Depot Museum. Hikes are held rain or shine. The fee is $6 per person or $3 for members of the Issaquah History Museums. The presentation at the depot is free to the public. Fundraisers
Sammamish Presbyterian Church is sponsoring the 40 Degrees Project. Anyone can purchase a Homeless Compassion Kit filled with hygiene items for $10. The community is then invited to assemble the kits in two shifts from 4-6 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Dec. 12 at Sammamish Presbyterian Church. Kits will be delivered to Union Gospel Mission, Operation Nightwatch and Teen Feed. You can also donate hats, gloves and wool socks. St. Michael and All Angels Church’s annual St. Nicholas breakfast is at 9 a.m. Dec. 6 at 325 S.E. Darst St. This family tradition includes traditional Christmas lore and a visit by the “real” St. Nicholas. Tickets are $3 per person. Call 392-3215.
St. Michael and All Angels Church’s annual Advent Scripture and Song is at 4 p.m. Dec. 7. This is a candle-lit program of joy-filled anthems and hymns foretelling Christ’s birth. A wine and cheese reception follows. Call 392-3215.

The opera preview of “The Pearl Fishers,” by Georges Bizet, is at 7 p.m. Dec. 29.
Talk Time for adults, an opportunity to practice your English skills in a fun and friendly environment, is at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays and 1 p.m. Mondays.
Youth
The districtwide middle school dance is from 7-10 p.m. Dec. 5 at the community center. Fee is $5 at the door for students in sixth through eighth grade with a photo identification. Concessions are available. Parent volunteers are always needed. Call 837-3317.
Senior Center
Center hours are from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Activities are open to people 55 and older. The center is at 75 N.E. Creek Way. Call 392-2381.

The senior center will be closed after lunch at 1 p.m. Dec. 23 for the holidays and reopens Jan. 5.
A book/article discussion group meets from 10:30-11:30 a.m. the second Wednesday.
A conditioning and stretching class is from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Tuesdays. Fee is $16.
Line dancing classes are from 10-11 a.m. Thursdays. Fee is $5.
A drawing and painting class is from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesdays. The fee for this eight-week course is $120.
Stay Active & Independent for Life classes are from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays through Nov. 12. The fee is $35.
Appointments can be made for foot care clinics every Thursday. A new, lower fee is only $25 per person. Payment will now be made at the front desk. Remember to bring a small towel with you.
Line dancing lessons are from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursdays. Cost is $5 per session or $18 per month.
A writers’ call is from 10:30-11:30 a.m. the first and third Wednesday.
Instructor Norma Foss leads a computer lab to answer basic questions about the computer 1-2 p.m. Tuesdays.
Artist open studio is from 10 a.m. – noon Tuesdays. Bring your own project and work with fellow artists.
Pinochle is from 1-4 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays.
Bridge is at 10:55 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
Happy Hookers needlework group meets from noon – 3 p.m. Thursdays.
