Francis H. Davenport, of North Bend, died at his home Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008. He was 74.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 13 at Flintoft’s Issaquah Funeral Home, 540 E. Sunset Way, Issaquah. A celebration will follow from 3-6 p.m. at the Snoqualmie Eagles. His final resting place will be Tahoma National Cemetery.

Francis was born Dec. 20, 1933, in Forks, to Garth and Ethyl Davenport. In 1935, the family moved to Snoqualmie, where Francis was raised and attended schools in the Snoqualmie School District. He served with the United States Army from 1953-1956.  

Francis worked for Weyerhaeuser plywood mill as a wood grader for many years, and has been employed by the Issaquah School District as a custodian at Issaquah High School since 1989. 

Francis married Marcia Hill on June 15, 1986, and they resided in North Bend.

Francis enjoyed gardening, dogs, baseball and football. He was known as “Frannie Claus” in the Sno Valley, where he played Santa for 17 years. For the past five years, he has been the main Santa for the Railway Museum in Snoqualmie.

Survivors include his wife Marcia, of North Bend; sons John, Ben, Larry and Wally; daughters Ida and Joanne; sister Barbara Neeman; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
