Issaquah police have arrested two Bellevue women in a scheme to steal money from an elderly Issaquah man.
The arrests took place Dec. 11 in Bellevue, according to Cmdr. Scott Behrbaum. He said the women, ages 29 and 56, were reported to the police by Adult Protective Services after they tried to take advantage of the vulnerable 78-year-old.
According to the report, the women took the man from his Issaquah home to Bellevue District Court, where he was married to the 56-year-old. They then drove the man to his bank and tried, unsuccessfully, to withdraw money from his account.
After their arrest, the women were booked into the King County Jail pending arraignment on charges of kidnapping and theft.
The man is safe and unharmed, Behrbaum said. He would not provide any additional information Dec. 12, saying aspects of the investigation are continuing.
