The Issaquah History Museums present eight of Issaquah’s Oral History Video Shorts at 11 a.m. Jan. 10 at the Depot Freight Room, 50 Rainier Blvd. N. View the final piece of the project of professionally produced film shorts of video and audio clips of the oral history subjects. Refreshments will be served at this free event. The East King County office of the state Department of Revenue hosts a free workshop for new and small business owners from 1-4 p.m. Jan. 15 at Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Ave. N.E., Room No. 1E-113. Participants will learn about Washington excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements. Sponge and Cookalicious Club, present New Year Nibbles, an afternoon of cooking, classes and crafts, from 10 a.m. – noon Jan. 18, at Sponge’s Eastside location, 375 N.W. The Issaquah REI has partnered with the city of Issaquah and Mountains-to-Sound Greenway to host a day of wetland cleanup, invasive plant removal and native plant staking at 9 a.m. Jan. 24 at 735 N.W. Fundraisers
IHOP plans to raise $1 million for local children’s hospitals and charities during National Pancake Day on Feb. 24. From 7 a.m. – 10 p.m., the Issaquah IHOP, 1433 N.W. Sammamish Road, joins restaurants nationwide to offer a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. In return, guests are asked to donate what they would have paid for the pancakes, or more, to local children’s hospitals and other local charities. Go to www.ihoppancakeday.com.
