Evelyn Evans Donlan Schall passed away in Federal Way in the early hours of the 1st day of 2009. She was 89.

Mom was born on Sept. 8, 1919, to Gladys and Harry Evans. She grew up in Prosser, Wash. After graduation from high school, she moved to Seattle with her sister Joyce, attending business school and working in downtown Seattle.

In 1942, she married Daniel T. Donlan and moved to Issaquah, and then later Renton, raising her family and enjoying 32 years of marriage before his untimely death in 1974. Eight years later, she met and married Anthony Schall and moved to Tacoma. He became her travel partner and they visited many places around the U.S., many countries in Europe and Asia until his death five years later.

She worked for some time at The Boeing Co., the Coalfield Grocery and the Bon Marche. But her most important job and focus of her life was and always would be her family.

The Donlan family homesteaded in Issaquah and Mom enjoyed gathering family history and studying the history of Issaquah. She loved reading, gardening and travel. Talking about her travels was second only to her first love — bragging about her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dan, second husband Tony and her beloved son Buddy.

Mom is survived by her children Cheryl Linville, Danella Donlan, Leonard Donlan, Maureen McKinney, Tim Young and stepdaughter Kris Schall; grandchildren Kim, Amy, Zeb and Tommy; and great-grandchild Piper.

We won’t know how to behave without you, Mom. We love you.

A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday, Jan. 9 at 12:30 p.m. Reception follows.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to Issaquah History Museums (The Issaquah Historical Society) at P.O. Box 695, Issaquah, WA 98027, in Mom’s memory.

Friends are invited to share memories and sign the family’s online guest book at www.Flintofts.com.
