The kickoff meeting for Relay for Life team captains to pick up team materials is from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sammamish Starbucks, 3016 Issaquah-Pine Lake Road S.E.

The 2009 American Cancer Society Relay for Life Issaquah fundraiser returns May 30-31.

Event co-chair Karen Conely said each team should have between eight and 15 members and be able to walk a total of 20 hours on the track.

“The saying goes, ‘Cancer never sleeps,’ so neither will we,” she said.

This year, due to construction at Issaquah High School, the location for the walk-a-thon has been moved to Skyline High School.

“The school district has been very happy to work with us,” Conely said.

She said the American Cancer Society set a goal this year to top last year’s final tally. That relay had 66 teams that brought in $227,780 in donations. This year, the goal is to get 80 teams to raise $240,000.

There will be four more team captain meetings planned between now and the relay, she said.
