Shirlee Holmes Garratt, of Issaquah, died Jan. 13, 2009, at her home. She was 44.A celebration of her life will be held from 5-8 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Beaver Lake Lodge.

 Shirlee was born June 17, 1964, in Elizabeth City, N.C. She graduated from high school in Asheboro, N.C., and graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., with a degree in art. After moving to the Pacific Northwest in 1996, she started a career in real estate. 

Shirlee enjoyed hiking outdoors with her daughter Sarah and her dog Tinkerbelle. Shirlee and Sarah also shared a passion for art and painting. 

Shirlee had a wide circle of friends, was involved in a number of charitable organizations and was a member of Snoqualmie United Methodist Church. Her friends and family enjoyed her wicked sense of humor, disguised with a sweet smile. 

Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the continuous love and support of her friends.

Shirlee is survived by her daughter Sarah; sisters Rosemary Niles, Jane Hearn, Katherine Moody, Emilie Covil and Becky Leopard; and brothers George Holmes and John Holmes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending contributions to the Sarah Garratt trust fund, 3518 255th Lane S.E., No. 6, Issaquah WA 98029.
