EFR board gets two new faces
January 26, 2009
Local fire agency Eastside Fire & Rescue has two new commissioners for 2009.
Issaquah City Councilwoman Eileen Barber will replace Councilwoman Maureen McCarry as one of Issaquah’s two representatives on EFR’s board of commissioners. The other Issaquah representative is Councilman Dave Kappler.
John Magee will replace Rick Gaines as a representative of Fire District 10, joining current commissioner Mike Mitchell.
“The nice thing is that these folks have already been engaged,” Fire Chief Lee Soptich said.
Barber had worked on committees related to the fire station bond in Issaquah and the adoption of an international fire code for EFR. Magee had worked on collective bargaining agreements and alternative work schedules for EFR employees.
The commissioners voted 8-0 to keep Ron Pedee as the board chair, and for Mitchell to become the new vice chair.
Sammamish City Councilmen Jack Barry and Lee Fellinge will continue to serve on the board for 2009 as representatives for their city.
The coverage area of EFR includes Issaquah, Sammamish, North Bend, Carnation and portions of unincorporated east King County.
The agency’s eight-person commission is made up of representatives from three cities and two fire districts.
