District officials have submitted building permits to the city of Sammamish for the new school building, temporarily called Elementary 15.

School officials still hope to break ground and begin work on the site, on Southeast 16th Street in the Crossings neighborhood at Pine Lake, this spring.

City officials are already reviewing the district’s commercial site development permit package. District officials said the package seems acceptable to city officials.

Once city officials make a determination about the commercial site development permit there is a 28-day appeal period.

Renderings for the building indicate it is similar in size, layout and design to Grand Ridge Elementary School. Elementary 15 will also use new environmentally friendly design techniques, like taking advantage of natural daylight and natural ventilation to reduce energy consumption.
