Issaquah Schools Foundation and Issaquah School District officials are asking parents to take a survey thatcould determine whether the student art calendar gets axed from the budget this year.
The calendar is mailed to more than 14,000 families and staff members in the district and features student artwork created the year before. It marks important holidays, features the school year calendar and marks important schools foundation dates, like the annual luncheon.
Since the calendar has been produced for a long time, officials with both organizations would like to know how much value the community places on it.
The dates and information in the calendar are also available on both organizations’ Web sites and in newsletters.
The calendar costs the foundation $20,000 to produce. Businesses that advertise in it help underwrite the rest of the costs.
“Information is is now readily available online and kept current daily. With the current economic conditions, ISF questions whether subsidizing the calendar is the best use of our funds,” foundation Executive Director Robin Callahan wrote in an e-mail.
You can take the brief survey through Feb. 4 at www.issaquah.wednet.edu then clicking on “Student Artwork Calendar survey” under the “What’s happening” menu.
