County to install traffic cameras

February 17, 2009

By Staff

Cameras will be installed and signals upgraded at two Issaquah-area intersections, King County Road officials said last week.Plans call for crews to add the equipment on Issaquah-Hobart Road at the May Valley Road and Cedar Grove Road intersections. A new variable message sign will also be installed south of Cedar Grove Road. No timeline was given for the work.

The upgrades are part of a countywide effort to improve traffic flow on busy roads. High-speed data and video transmission will connect traffic control centers to intersections along the corridor. Engineers will be able to synchronize traffic signals and remotely operate the signals to relieve congestion.
