Catherine Cornelia Fisher Flagg, a longtime Issaquah resident, died in Spokane on Sunday, March 1, 2009. She was 84.At her request, no services will be held.

An only child, Catherine was born in Battle Creek, Iowa, on March 21, 1925, and was raised in Odebolt, Iowa. She was high school valedictorian and earned bachelor’s degrees from Central Washington University and the University of Washington. At the UW, she joined the Pi Beta Phi Sorority.

Catherine eventually settled in Issaquah, where she taught elementary school until her retirement. Education was very important to her and she loved all of “her” kids.

She loved to travel and saw the world. She had a great sense of humor and, despite many hardships, never lost it.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and many dear friends, but is survived by her three children, two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.

Catherine was very grateful for the love of her friends. She loved and always trusted the Lord and his hand in her life was always evident to her. Her family will all miss her humor, friendship and love.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Issaquah Covenant Presbyterian Church in her honor.
