The Issaquah and Skyline girls golf teams will face new challenges this spring.
For the first time in four years, Issaquah won’t have Brittany Tallman on the course. The former two-time 3A state champion graduated last spring and now attends the University of Washington.

Couple arrested in $47 million mortgage-fraud case

Federal authorities arrested an Issaquah real estate agent and his wife last week in a bank, wire and mail fraud scheme that investigators said defrauded banks and mortgage lenders of more than $47 million.

Issaquah High School’s Eagles were 90 feet away from winning March 26.
The Eagles had tied it at five on a seventh-inning, RBI safety squeeze bunt by Grant Gellatly, but needed one more to put the Wolves away.
Eastlake wouldn’t let it happen.
Despite getting two more runners on base, Issaquah couldn’t muster that one key hit it needed. Just a blooper over the first baseman’s head or a liner into center field would have done it. Read more

Beaver Lake Bingo

More than 500 people attended the third-annual Bingo Night at Beaver Lake Middle School March 13. Students and staff brought their families to enjoy a night of bingo and prize giveaways. Raffle prizes included iTunes and restaurant gift cards, iPod accessories and a Nintendo Wii game system. Raffle proceeds went to benefit the school’s African humanitarian project. Contributed
Third-graders write world-saving story

With help from award-winning author Derek Munson (“Enemy Pie”), Apollo Elementary School third-graders gathered in the library to help their character Billy Bob save the world from space aliens in February.
The school PTSA sponsored the author session, which helped students learn how to write their own story, from brainstorming to a riveting end.

Whoever said teenagers are lazy has not met today’s teenagers. In this day and age, it is easy to become consumed by the extracurricular activities offered to teenagers.
There are so many different activities, including Spanish Club, Drill Team, Robotics, National Honor Society and more than five sports offered each season, just to name a few. Most students take part in numerous school activities each week, as well as volunteer work and paying jobs. Read more
Mark Mullet decides to run for City Council

Mullet, a Seattle native who moved to Issaquah three years ago, said he wants to promote managed growth and environmental protection as a member of the seven-member council.

Restaurant hosts Skyline sophomore fundraiser tonight
