Margarette Wittmier
A memorial service for Margarette Louise Wittmier, 77, of Issaquah, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Eastridge Christian Assembly, 5025 Issaquah-Pine Lake Road S.E., Issaquah. Mrs. Wittmier passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 25, 2009, surrounded by her family. Private cremation was held.
Marge Wittmier was born April 23, 1932, in Praise, Ky., the daughter of Forrest and Mary Syck. She grew up in Chicago and later moved to Seattle, where she met Raymond Wittmier Sr. They married on Sept. 15, 1952, in Seattle. Raymond preceded Margarette in death, passing away Oct. 4, 1999.
Marge was well-known and loved in her neighborhood, and will be remembered by many for her generous and giving nature. She was best known for giving candy to neighborhood kids on their way home from school. Affectionately nicknamed “The Candy Lady of Klahanie,” she provided refreshments, a little advice and a lot of love. She also loved the squirrels and birds that visited every day to get their treats.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation (at the memorial service) toward a memorial bench in her name that will be placed on the Yellow Lake Trail, where she loved to walk. Or, a donation to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Any donations exceeding the cost of the bench will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Wittmier is survived by her daughter Amielia Stevens, and son Ray Wittmier Jr., both of Issaquah; her sister Rose Rowland, of Glendale, Ariz.; and three grandsons, Chris, Matt and Dustin.
Friends are invited to share memories and sign the family’s online guestbook at www.flintofts.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of Flintoft’s Issaquah Funeral Home, 540 E. Sunset Way, Issaquah, WA 98027.
