Phyllis Ambrosio, “Nana” to her family, died April 19, 2009. She was 85,She was born Jan. 30, 1924, in the Bronx, N.Y. She was the oldest child of three born to her parents, Thomas Desisto and Clara Artese.

Her brother Frank and sister Joan predeceased her.

Phyllis graduated from Roosevelt High School and worked at Macy’s Department Store, both in New York.

In 1946, she married Pasquale “Pat” Ambrosio. Together, they had two children, Frank and Christine. She was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren, who were the light and happiness of her life.

Phyllis had a long career in banking and retired as a vice president. In 1994, she moved to Issaquah, where she enjoyed being an active member of St. Joseph’s parish and the Issaquah senior community. Many days were spent at the senior center, working with the Happy Hookers needlework group and taking travel adventures with her friends.

Her family and friends join together in love and gratitude for the gift of her life and the hope that she brought to all.
