death-ricemarie-20090500Marie Elaine Rice, age 57, passed away April 30 after a courageous 14-month battle with pancreatic cancerMarie was born Oct. 6, 1951, in Seattle to James and Margie Rice.  She grew up in Anacortes, graduating from Anacortes High School in 1969. During summers, while in high school, Marie worked on the Washington State Ferries as a cook. Four years were spent in Bellingham attending Western Washington University. 

After college, she worked for Secret Harbor Farms on Cypress Island and at Charlie’s Restaurant. She has spent the past 18 years in Issaquah working, with the last 10 at SanMar (Sports Authority) as a senior color analyst.

Marie loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews, and she spoiled them as such. Her favorite vehicle was her Volkswagen bug.

Those who knew Marie will remember her radiant smile, her cheerful disposition and willingness to help others. Marie’s passions in life were her garden, her family, and her friends at work and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Issaquah.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her loving sister Carol. Marie is survived by her brother David (Janet); niece Alicia (Jim) Montour and their children Mallory and Camden; nephew Craig (Maia) and their children Lexi and Cole; brother Robert (Yuko); nieces Cheyenne and Sienna; and her treasured brother-in-law Gerd Krause.

A memorial service will be held
