Events 

More than 1,000 area students will gather at the 15th annual Sammamish Watershed Festival from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. May 13-15 at Beaver Lake Park in Sammamish to explore watersheds through outdoor activities. Call 392-6256.An interpretive hike of the Issaquah-Superior mine site is May 16. Meet at the Issaquah Depot at 10 a.m. for a brief presentation followed by a two-and-a-half-hour hike covering two miles over easy to moderate terrain. There is a fee of $6 per person for the hike, or $3 per person for members of the Issaquah History Museums. The ARAS African Bike Drive needs used adult and children’s bikes to send to Ghana on May 16. All bikes and parts are accepted, except for those that are severely rusted. Bike drop off is from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. May 16 at Sammamish City Hall, 801 228th Ave. S.E. Volunteers are also needed on the day of the drive. To arrange drop off before May 16, or to volunteer, call 868-8448 or 836-4431. Donations are tax-deductible.

The Honors and Awards Dessert, recognizing Issaquah High School class of 2009 recipients of college scholarships or awards, is May 19 at the Pacific Cascade Freshman Campus, 24635 Issaquah-Fall City Road. Dessert will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the program will start at 7 p.m. 

The 5th District Democrats will honor long-time activist Nancy San Carlos with a service award, which it will name in her honor for future awardees, at its general meeting at 7 p.m. May 20 at the King County Library System building, 960 Newport Way, N.W. Call 836-4220.

Fundraisers

The Providence Marianwood ninth annual Spring Celebration Luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. May 14 at Snoqualmie Ridge Golf Club, 36005 S.E. Ridge St., Snoqualmie. Best-selling author Robert Fulghum, noted for his wise and insightful way of looking at life, will be the keynote speaker. This is the premier fundraiser for the residents of Providence Marianwood, the only nonprofit rehabilitation and long-term healthcare provider in east King County. For reservations, call 391-2895. A suggested tax-deductible donation is $150 per person.

The Skyline Gridiron Club presents Drive One 4 UR School event from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. May 16 at Skyline High School. Help the club earn money for the Skyline High School football program by test-driving a new Ford. For every person who takes a new Fusion, Focus Flex or other Ford for a spin, Ford and Evergreen Ford will donate $20 to the Skyline Gridiron Club. Village Theatre’s annual auction and gala, “On The Town with Village Theatre,” is at 5:30 p.m. May 16 at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, 411 University St., Seattle. The featured speaker is “Evening Magazine” host John Curley. There will be live musical theater performance and an elegant four-course gourmet dinner, complete with fine wines. Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery hosts a fundraising rummage sale from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. May 23-24, The nonprofit organization will accept donations at the hatchery’s Watershed Science Center from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. May 15-16, and by appointment the week of May 18-22. Youth

The Issaquah Youth Advisory Board presents The ATTIC — “Attention to Teen Talent in the Issaquah Community” — for ages 11-18, from 1-5 p.m. May 16 at the Issaquah Community Center. Senior Center

Center hours are from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Activities are open to people 55 and older. The center is at 75 N.E. Creek Way. Call 392-2381.

Keyboard Music For Adults is from 11 a.m. – noon Tuesdays for beginners and 1-2 p.m. Thursdays for continuing classes. Fee is $90. Keyboards are provided. 

Activity night is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays.

Appointments can be made for foot care clinics every Thursday. Fee is $25.

Ping Pong is from 1-4 p.m. Fridays and 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays. 

Tai Chi is from 9-10 a.m. Mondays.

Cards are played at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays.

Pinochle is at 1 p.m. Tuesdays.

Bridge is from 10:55 a.m. – 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. 

Happy Hookers needlework group meets from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Mahjong is from 9 a.m. – noon Tuesdays.  

Tai Chi classes are from 9-10 a.m. Mondays.
