Paul Charles

Paul Edward Charles, of Issaquah, died unexpectedly May 11, 2009. He was 34.

Services and viewing were May 16 at Flintoft’s Funeral Home, Issaquah. Internment was at Hillside Upper Cemetery on May 19.

He was born and raised in Tucson, Ariz. In 2000, he moved to the Seattle area following his love for green pines, snow and his culinary calling.

He began his career in Washington, working for John Howie at the Palisade Restaurant. Shortly thereafter, he married Robin, on a day that he remembered as the happiest day in his life. Together, they settled down in Issaquah.

Here, he held sous chef positions at DC’s Grill on the plateau and at Fin’s Bistro in the past eight years. His most current and cherished position was his recent promotion to head chef at Iris Grill.

When he wasn’t cooking, he enjoyed spending time with Robin. He spent many hours exploring the beautiful Northwest area, snowboarding and biking. He also liked to spend time on the computer researching and creating tasty entrées for his patrons.

Paul had a kind word for everyone. He had a way of inspiring people to do their best and making them feel genuinely appreciated. He could always see the positive side of any situation. All who shared in his life were blessed, and through our shared faith in Christ we can hope to see him again.

He is survived by his loving wife Robin; parents Gail and Ellen Charles, of Arizona; grandfather; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family suggests remembrances to The American Cancer Society. Donations can be made online at www.acs.org.
