Issaquah Police cited 34 underage drinkers for alcohol possession and/or consumption after officers broke up a party in a Talus house early Monday morning.
Four officers responded to a complaint of a juvenile party in the 100 block of Cougar Ridge Road Northwest at about 12:20 a.m. Officers were allowed into the residence, where they observed alcohol and intoxicated, underage partygoers, according to a police news release.
Chief Paul Ayers said he did not know how the minors acquired alcohol for the party.
Officers cited underage drinkers, notified offenders’ parents and broke up the party. Offenders under 18 will be referred to King County Juvenile Court. Adult offenders will be cited for appearance in Issaquah Municipal Court.
The offenders over 18 face misdemeanor charges punishable by up to a $1,000 fine and/or up to 90 days in county jail. For the juveniles, punishment will be weighed based on the offender’s age and level of involvement, Ayers said.
Ayers said his officers take underage drinking seriously.
“As the school year winds down, and graduation parties begin, we unfortunately see an increase in underage drinking parties,” he said in the release. “Our goal is to avoid tragedies, such as drunken driving accidents or alcohol poisoning, from ever occurring in our community.”

To bad the officers tricked the owner into letting them in. They were complete a-holes
Yeah, they did. I could tell they were feeling guilty and only the sargeant was being mean. THEY LIED IN ORDER TO OBTAIN ENTRY TO THE HOUSE. Under the RCW police may not provide falsified promises to enter a domain.
haha i was at this party!
except i escaped and ran from the cops when they got there. Im way too dam ninja for them sorry to all my friends that got MIP.s and such
This kind of thing just shows the degredation of today’s youth. It is really a disgrace that children waste away their lives drinking and partying instead of trying to get better grades and get prepared for the adult world.
Alright Daniel, too bad its the end of the school year, and your grades are basically set. But yeah good point. And this is the degredation of ALL youth. Look back in to the past, its a common pattern that the youth defy their parents and drink and smoke and do drugs. Not that they should be endangering others, but like that kid who ran, I’m assuming he then drove when he could get to a car, and then there’s some drinking and driving right there. Keep it safe kids, and live it up while you’re still young and fun unlike Daniel S. here!
I don’t know what Daniel is talking about grades for because I can do all this and I still manage a 3.6 GPA. It’s not degradation of the youth, it’s the lack of parenting. I know many kids with good families and they are able to have fun yet still be responsible with school and life in general. One bad apple infects the rest, believe me I have seen it too many times to count.
