Michael’s Chevrolet of Issaquah will remain open, as it was not one of the 1,200 General Motors dealerships in the nation that received closure notices.GM notified failing dealerships by Federal Express courier May 15. The Issaquah location did not receive the proverbial pink slip.

Jonathan Murphy, general sales manager of Michael’s Chevrolet, said the dealership did not meet any of the criteria for closing. The Issaquah location’s customer satisfaction index, unit sales and objectives all met or exceeded corporate expectations, he said.

“Actually, the exact words were, ‘We’re golden,’” he said.

He added that there are rumors GM may go through a second phase of closures. Even if that’s true, Murphy said he doesn’t expect any problems for Issaquah then either.
