Issaquah lacrosse moves closer to repeat state title

The Issaquah High School lacrosse club took another step towards winning a second-straight state title May 22 when it defeated Skyline 13-5 in the quarterfinals of the Washington State League Division I playoffs.

Issaquah entertains Bainbridge at 8 p.m. May 27 in the semifinals.

Todd Jones led Issaquah with four goals. Jake Fritz contributed two goals and two assists.

Skyline surprised Issaquah two minutes in the game when Danny Christianson, off an assist from Brennan West, gave the Spartans 1 -0 lead. Issaquah countered with goals from Ben Director and Jordan Goldstein to take the lead. However, the teams were tied 2-2 after the first period when West scored. It was the last goal for Skyline for another 23 minutes as Issaquah tightened up its defense.

Issaquah blew out Skyline with four straight goals in the second period. Ben Director, Jones, Kevin Powers and Goldstein scored for the Eagles.
