Issaquah lacrosse wins semifinal
The Issaquah High School lacrosse club is headed for the Washington State League Division I state championship game again.
Issaquah, defending state champions, defeated visiting Bainbridge 5-4 in overtime Wednesday in the semifinals. Issaquah meets rival Mercer Island, the regular-season champion, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Seattle’s Memorial Stadium for the title.
Kevin Powers scored the winning goal for Issaquah. Todd Jones scored two goals for the Eagles.
Issaquah trailed 2-1 after the first quarter and 3-2 at halftime.
In the third period, Connor McClain tied the score for Issaquah and Jones put the Eagles ahead. Bainbridge tied the score late in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.
Issaquah Triathlon is Saturday
The annual Issaquah Triathlon is Saturday at Lake Sammamish State Park.
The event begins with the sprint triathlon at 7 a.m., followed by the duathlon, 5K and 10K races, and the kids’ triathlon.
The 5K and 10K races are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
State track meet begins today
Athletes from Issaquah, Liberty and Skyline high schools begin competition today at the 2A, 3A, 4A state track and field championships at Tacoma’s Mount Tahoma High School.
Competition starts at 4:30 p.m. Most of the action today will be in preliminary events, although there are some final events.
The championship meet runs through Saturday.
