Turn your children’s outgrown clothing and toys into cash at The Kids Sale June 3 at Pickering Barn. The sale is a community consignment event that offers thousands of quality pre-owned items for infants, children and parents-to-be. There are no upfront costs to sell. Admission is free. The annual Providence Point Used Book Sale is from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. June 6 and from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. June 7 at Colin Hall, 4135 Providence Point Drive S.E.

The Issaquah Farmers Market is from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. June 6 at Pickering Farm, 730 10th Ave. N.W. This week features the Melelani Hula Studio’s “Waikiki,” a Hawaiian hula show, at 11:30 a.m. Entry is a $2 donation. The Issaquah History Museums’ Hometown History display is in the hay barn. There is a cooking demonstration at 11 a.m. and performances by Briarwood and Newcastle elementary school choirs at 11 a.m. Call 206-818-5837.

The Issaquah History Museums celebrate the centennial of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition with an exhibit of AYPE memorabilia at the Issaquah Train Depot. The AYPE brought people from around the world to the Pacific Northwest, and left its mark on the city of Seattle. The exhibit opens June 12 and is up through summer. Depot hours are from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Friday through Sunday and from 4-8 p.m. Thursday. Call 392-3500.

The Issaquah Optimist Club’s fourth annual Bike Safety Fair is from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. June 13 at Issaquah Valley Elementary School, 555 N.W. Holly St. Kindergarteners through fifth-graders can bring their bikes, learn safety tips from police officers, test their skills on the obstacle course, get free professional bike tune-ups and get fitted for a free helmet, while supplies last. There will also be Red Robin food, prizes, free goodies, face painting, fun activities and more. The Optimist Club will also collect nonperishable food donations.

Windermere’s Community Service Day is June 19 at the Issaquah Depot Museum. Volunteers will wash and treat the exterior and rolling stock, paint railings doors and stairways, and weed and pick up trash. To participate, call 941-9096.

The 24th annual Block Party Quilters quilt show is from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. June 19-20 and from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. June 21 at the community center. This year’s show, Reach for the Stars, includes more than 200 contemporary and traditional quilts, as well as two special exhibits, a quilters’ challenge, merchant mail, tearoom and more. The Vasa Park Resort presents Family Fun Day at 12:30 p.m. June 21, at 3560 W. Lake Sammamish Parkway S.E. There will be Swedish pancakes, a Swedish coffee garden, beer garden, free pony rides, children’s games, cotton candy and face painting. Call 746-3260.

An Eastside King County Executive Community Forum, jointly hosted by the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce and Gary and Jennifer Fancher to allow the public to meet candidates for King County executive, is at 7 p.m. June 25 at Twin Falls Middle School, 46910 S.E. Fundraisers

Operation Support Our Troops’ fundraiser, Shootin’ for the Troops, is at 7 p.m. June 5 at Wade’s Eastside Guns & Range, 13570 Bel-Red Road. A $25 fee includes range and gun rental; $50 gets use of all weapons, plus full auto. Call 270-4340.

PCC Natural Markets and Seattle Children’s Hospital have joined forces to help local families in need. Through June 15, PCC will donate 5 percent of Kid Picks product sales up to a total of $10,000 to support Seattle Children’s as part of the Families Helping Families program. Career Connection Issaquah presents the free course “Foundations for Job Searching” from 12-1:30 p.m. June 5 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Second Avenue and Darst Street.

FreePlay — Stop by the library any day to borrow a Nintendo DS and games to play for up to two hours. Those 14 and older need an ID; those under 14 need an adult with an ID.

 

Youth

A districtwide middle school dance is from 7-10 p.m. June 12 at the community center. Fee is $5.

 

Senior Center

Center hours are from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Activities are open to people 55 and older. The center is at 75 N.E. Creek Way. Call 392-2381.
