Speed cameras operational along Second Avenue Southeast
September 1, 2009
By Staff
City officials are reminding drivers that the “photo enforcement program” along Second Avenue Southeast will be reactivated Sept. 2, the first day of school, to increase safety and reduce speed violations near several Issaquah schools.
The program was not active this summer, as the cameras only operate during school days from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. The cameras monitor both directions of traffic along Second Avenue Southeast near Clark Elementary School, Issaquah High School and the Tiger Mountain Community High School corridor.
Only vehicles that exceed the school zone’s speed limit of 20 mph are photographed and videotaped.
Before the $124 infractions are mailed to the registered owners of speeding vehicles, the Issaquah Police Department will review and confirm each violation.
The infraction is a noncriminal offense that, like a parking ticket, is not part of the violator’s driving record. Those who receive an infraction have the option of paying the fine in full, requesting a hearing or submitting a declaration of nonresponsibility.
Violators may view photos and video of the incident at www.violationinfo.com. For questions and answers about the cameras, go to www.ci.issaquah.wa.us/cameras.
Those who don’t have access to a computer can call 837-3170 for more information.

I think these speed cameras are the worst… I think they should be taken out… I don’t know any school zone that operates 7 am – 4pm … they are crazy … How many of us that drive for a living like to be surprised by these stupid cameras … try to drive by the rules and if you will miss a sign or pull out of an area where there is no warning sign and bam! they have you … I hope the recession we are going through cost you crazies your job … may you be voted out of office … I have driven for 30 years and never had a ticket now these speed cameras are put in and they are fleecing people at $1000′s of $$$ per hour. They should be outlawed!!!
I am curious about these cameras—-where are they located? I got a school zone ticket and there is no school in sight…..just a bunch of trees
