A sign-up party for Salmon Days volunteers is from 5:30-7 p.m. Sept. 15 in the Pickering Barn, 1730 10th Ave. N.W.Director of Festivals Robyn Kelley said ideally 500 volunteers are needed in myriad positions for the two-day event Oct. 3-4, including:
Field of Fun
The trash collecting Refuse Rangers
The tech team (in charge of production, setup booths, signs and bleachers)
Sporting events (held the weekend before Salmon Days)
Parking
Booth official
Man the booths
Take surveys
Attendees at the signup party will receive a free dinner, provided by sponsor Timber Ridge at Talus, and will get a free Ruby Red T-shirt, in honor of the 40th anniversary, from sponsor Overlake Medical Center Issaquah.
Kelley said volunteers are required to sign up for one three- or four-hour shift. She said some positions require additional commitments.
Keeping a festival that regularly draws more than 200,000 people to the streets of Issaquah wouldn’t be possible without volunteers, Kelley said.
“We can get everything planned, but nothing will happen without volunteers to implement it,” she said. “Also, we hear from vendors and attendees who say this is the nicest festival to come to, because it’s so friendly.
“Making that happen are the volunteers in the front-line positions.”
