Issaquah golfers edge Skyline

Kevin Moon shot a 2-over-par 38 and Brendon Jung a 3-over-par 39 Sept. 30 to lead the Issaquah High School boys golf team to a 204-206 KingCo Conference victory against rival Skyline at the Plateau Golf Club.

Moon shared the medalist award with Skyline’s Nathan Stephenson. Chris Batt also shot a 40 for Issaquah. Jack Quinton and Darius Lalier had 41s for Skyline.

Skyline girls first

The Skyline High School girls cross country team finished first Sept. 30 in a KingCo Conference meet at Klahanie Park.

The Spartans, led by Elise Pletcher and Haley Hunter, had 33 points. Bellevue was second with 43 and Bothell came in third with 48.

Pletcher finished second in the 3-mile race in a time of 20 minutes, 20 seconds. Hunter was fourth in 20:31.

In the boys race, Skyline finished second with 43 points. Bellevue was first with 31 points and Bothell third with 49. Skyline’s Kyle Branch placed first in the 3-mile race in 15:42. Teammate Mark Frerker was sixth in 16:22.

Rotary Run set for Oct. 4

Runners of all ages will race around Issaquah Oct. 4 at the 34th annual Rotary Run at Salmon Days.

The event starts at 1185 N.W. Gilman Blvd. Races include the 10K, 5K and kids 1K.

The 10K starts at 9 a.m., the 5K begins at 10:15 a.m. and the kids 1K is at 10:20 a.m. Registration forms are available online at the Rotary Run Web site or at the Footzone in Issaquah. Advanced registration closes at Oct. 3.

Proceeds benefit Science and Management Addiction, which offers services to parents who have children struggling with alcohol or drug problems.
