Victory for Liberty girls soccer

The Liberty High School girls soccer team entered the win column Oct. 1 when the Patriots defeated the host Interlake Saints 3-1 in a 3A/2A KingCo Conference contest.

Kiana Hafferty, Cassidy Nangle and Mollie Cook scored goals for Liberty. Shawna Lindberg assisted on the goals by Hafferty and Nangle.

Nangle’s goal at the 43rd minute put Liberty ahead for good. Cook’s goal, assisted by Treva LeRoy at the 58th minute, iced the victory for the Patriots.

Liberty’s league record went to 1-2-2.

In 4A KingCo action, Issaquah and Skyline both won to remain tied for first place in the standings. Issaquah defeated Redmond 4-2 while Skyline downed Roosevelt 4-1.

Margaret Rauch scored two goals in Issaquah’s victory. Lindsay Stoll and Alyssa Eglund tallied the other Issaquah goals. Stoll’s unassisted goal at the 51st minute kept Issaquah in the lead for good.

Anna Morgan had a goal and two assists to spark Skyline to its victory against Roosevelt. Emily Anderson, Maddie Christ and Madi Barney scored the other Skyline goals.

Skyline and Issaquah are 4-0 in league play.

Issaquah swimmers race by Redmond

Stacy Maier, Helen Liu and Kayla Flaten each won an event and swam as members of two winning relay teams Oct. 1 as the Issaquah High School girls swim team cruised past Redmond 118-84 in a KingCo Conference meet.

Maier won the 200 individual medley, Liu captured the 200 freestyle and Flaten took the 100 butterfly. The three swimmers were also on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.

Other Issaquah first places came from Jamie Elderkin in diving, Kelly Herman in the 100 freestyle, Sarah Mirahsani in the 500 freestyle and Michaela Eckel in the 100 breastroke. The Eagles also won the 400 freestyle relay.
