Girls soccer teams all post victories

The Skyline and Issaquah high school girls soccer teams began this week locked in a first-place tie in the 4A KingCo Conference standings. That won’t be the case after Oct. 8, when the rivals meet at 7 p.m. at Skyline.Last week, both teams won twice.

Skyline defeated host Ballard 1-0 while Issaquah whipped host Lake Washington 4-1 Sept. 29.

Maddie Christ’s goal at 28:14 gave Skyline its victory against Ballard. Christ was assisted on the goal by Anna Morgan. Goalkeepers Jill Stika and Christina Vargas shared the shutout for the Spartans.

Lindsay Stoll had a hat trick for Issaquah in its victory against Lake Washington. The Eagles spotted Lake Washington an early 1-0 lead, and then exploded for three first-half goals to take a commanding lead.

Stoll, off an assist by Kelsey Ford scored the first goal at 23 minutes. Margaret Rauch followed with an unassisted goal at 35 minutes to put Issaquah ahead for good. Then, just before halftime, Stoll, assisted by Dayna Talley, scored her second goal. Stoll’s final goal, assisted by Ford, came last in the second half.

On Oct. 1, Issaquah defeated Redmond 4-2 while Skyline downed Roosevelt 4-1.

Rauch scored two goals in Issaquah’s victory. Stoll and Alyssa Eglund tallied the other Issaquah goals. Stoll’s unassisted goal at the 51st minute kept Issaquah in the lead for good.

Anna Morgan had a goal and two assists to spark Skyline to its victory against Roosevelt. Emily Anderson, Christ and Madi Barney scored the other Skyline goals.

Skyline and Issaquah are 4-0 in league play.

Victory for Liberty girls soccer

The Liberty girls soccer team entered the win column Oct 1, when the Patriots defeated the host Interlake Saints 3-1 in a 3A/2A KingCo Conference contest.

Kiana Hafferty, Cassidy Nangle and Mollie Cook scored goals for Liberty. Shawna Lindberg assisted on the goals by Hafferty and Nangle.

Nangle’s goal at the 43rd minute put Liberty ahead for good. Cook’s goal, assisted by Treva LeRoy at the 58th minute, iced the victory for the Patriots.

Liberty’s league record went to 1-2-2.
