Jennifer DeVere, of Sammamish, was recently selected to participate in the national Miss Jr. Teen Seattle pageant Oct. 11.

DeVere submitted an application and took part in an interview session conducted by this year’s Seattle pageant coordinator.

DeVere will compete for a share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts that will be distributed to contestants. She’ll compete in the Miss Jr. Teen division, one of four divisions with contestants between ages 7-19 who compete in modeling routines that include casual wear and formal wear.DeVere will also display her personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with the judging panel. Personality is the No. 1 aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition.

If DeVere were to win the title, she would represent Seattle and surrounding communities at the Cities of America National Competition in Orlando. More than $60,000 in prizes and awards will be presented at the national competition while each winner enjoys an all-expenses-paid trip of five nights and six days in Orlando.

Community businesses, organizations and private individuals are assisting DeVere with costs of participating in the competition by becoming official sponsors. Through sponsorship, each contestant receives all of the necessary training, rehearsals and financial support to allow them to become confident and well-prepared contestants.

I was also selected to participate in the MIss Teen Seattle pageant. I live in Sammamish and have for about 12 years. I am 16 years old, and I placed first runner up. I am participating in my next pageant, this Saturday, October 24th, in Port Orchard, Washington for the Miss Teen Washington Cinderella pageant. This weekend is the preliminary pageant, and after that I will be looking for sponsors for the state pageant. How would I go about getting my information into a short synopsis like DeVere?
