Issaquah, Skyline volleyball teams victorious
Rachel Roeder had 15 kills and three aces, and Sarah Hanna scored 15 kills and five aces as they led the Issaquah High School volleyball team to a 3-1 victory Oct. 5 over the visiting Ballard Beavers at the Pacific Cascade Freshman Campus.
Issaquah won the first two games 25-15, 25-15, and then lost the third one 22-25 before bouncing back to win the fourth game 29-27 to win the match.
Stephanie Stoll contributed 10 kills and three blocks, Riley Sorenson had 49 assists, Alexa Batquin scored 13 kills, Alyssa Schultz added 12 kills and Maria Tilden had three aces for the Eagles. Issaquah improved its 4A KingCo Conference record to 4-1.
Skyline, meanwhile, swept the host Inglemoor Vikings 3-0. The Spartans won the games 25-23, 25-22, 25-8.
Olivia Marquardt had 10 kills, 11 digs and four aces to lead Skyline. Maddie Magee contributed 12 kills and 10 digs, Paige Haas scored five kills and three aces, Amy Ziegler had six kills, Madison Stoa added 32 assists and Aly Pearce had three aces for Skyline.
The Spartans’ league record went to 3-2.
Skyline netters nip Redmond
The Skyline High School boys tennis team swept the doubles to overcome Redmond 4-3 Oct. 5 in a KingCo Conference match.
Tyler VanGrunsven and Win Hubbard sparked Skyline’s comeback when they won the No. 1 doubles by defeating Ahmed Jafri and Jorel Murray 6-2, 7-5. Zach Oseran and Larry Liao took the No. 2 doubles, and Justin Kahng and Steven Do captured the No, 3 doubles.
The Spartans only singles win came in the No. 1 match where Aman Manji defeated Blake Larsen, of Redmond, 6-1, 6-4.
In other KingCo action, Eastlake topped Liberty 5-2. Eastlake swept the singles to take the match.
Liberty’s victories came in the No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles. Chris Weik and Ryan Maio won the No. 1 doubles by defeating Michael Bischak and Jon Lockwood 6-2, 6-3. Daniel Craig and Nam Nguyen captured the No. 3 doubles by defeating David Parkinson and Bennett Johnson 6-3, 7-5.
Issaquah, Skyline golfers win
Issaquah High School’s Chris Batt shot a 3-under-par 33 to earn medalist honors Oct. 5 as the Eagles defeated the visiting Liberty Patriots 187-210 at the Snoqualmie Falls Golf Course.
Kevin Moon and Brendon Jung each shot 38s for Issaquah. Derek Johnson and Devon O’Donnell added 39s.
Tyler Larson had a 39 to lead Liberty.
Skyline downed Sammamish 196-209 at the Bellevue Municipal Golf Course. Skyline’s Jordan Windsor took medalist honors with a 1-over-par 37.
