The Rite Aid store in the Pine Lake Village Shopping Center in Sammamish is holding a free Diabetes Solutions Day clinic from 2-6 p.m. Thursday.

An annual Rite Aid tradition, the clinics are a great chance for patients and caretakers alike to brush up on the latest information from the company’s clinical pharmacy team and the American Diabetes Association, a Rite Aid national strategic partner.

There are few health conditions more widespread than diabetes, which touches one out of every two Americans either directly or indirectly. Yet, diabetes is equally hidden in America, where 5.7 million people don’t even know they have it and another 57 million live with pre-diabetes.

Diabetes costs our country $174 billion annually (this cost alone is more per year than any of the health care plans being discussed in Washington, D.C.). According to a recent study in the American Journal of Public Health, avoiding diabetes can save the average American $34,483 a year and, more importantly, result in more than three extra years of life.
