Eagles’ win streak snapped
The Issaquah High School volleyball team’s six match winning streak was snapped Oct. 19 by visiting Bothell when the Eagles lost a 3-2 heartbreaker in the Pacific Cascade Freshman Campus gymnasium.
The intense match went back-and-forth with Issaquah winning the first game 29-27, Bothell taking the second game 25-22, Issaquah capturing the third game 25-23, and Bothell coming back to take the fourth game 25-20 to force a tiebreaker. The Cougars won the tiebreaking game 15-4.
The loss dropped Issaquah’s 4A KingCo Conference record to 7-2. Bothell went to 8-1.
In other action, Skyline swept host Lake Washington 3-0. The Spartans won the games 25-14, 25-23, 25-14. Maddie Magee had 10 kills for Skyline. Madison Stoa contributed 20 assists and six kills, and Andrea Chon 12 digs and 3 aces for Skyline, which went to 5-4 in league competition.
Skyline netters top Woodinville
The Skyline High School boys tennis team downed Woodinville 6-1 Oct. 19 in a KingCo Conference match.
Tyler VanGrunsven, of Skyline, captured the No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Erik Hummer.
Win Hubbard and Nasi Teodosiadis, of Skyline, took the No. 2 doubles with a 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-2 victory against Gordon Papik and Jon Hwa.
In other action, Liberty lost to Interlake 6-1. The No. 3 doubles team of Garrett Timm and Greg Murashige accounted for Liberty’s lone victory, beating Sean Roth-Hugo Foucher 2-6, 6-4, 10-6.
