Gaius Buxton

Gaius S. Buxton died Nov. 5, 2009 in Renton. He was 83.Services will be Nov. 12, with visitation at 11 a.m. and a memorial service at noon at Greenwood Memorial Park, 350 Monroe Ave. N.E., Renton.

Gaius was born June 15, 1926, in Hayward, Minn. He was a proud World War II Navy veteran, having served as a signalman third class aboard the naval flagship USS Grimes during the war. He retired after more than 44 years of loyal service for The Boeing Co. All of his children attended Issaquah schools.

He will be remembered as a brilliant, self-made man with many accomplishments. He was a fierce advocate for things he cared about. In his heart, he was still the farm boy who left Minnesota at the age of 10. He was considered a “rock” for many of the family members and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Louise; sons George Silbersdorff, Gerald Buxton and John Buxton; daughters Gale Wilson and Donna Collins; brother Roger Buxton; sisters Hazel Fisher and Virginia Caldwell; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
