Go all in for a good cause at a charity poker tournament Saturday.
The wife of a city Public Works Operations Department employee was recently diagnosed with cancer. The tournament will help raise money for the chemotherapy treatment she needs soon. But the medical co-payment is high and the family needs help.
Enter the poker tournament at the Lake Sammamish Elks Lodge, 765 Rainier Blvd. N. The event begins 6 p.m. Saturday.
“We want to do anything we can,” said another Public Works Operations employee, Greg Keith, city water operations manager.
The tournament has no buy-in, but a $100 donation will be requested. A potluck and silent auction will also be part of the event. The winner will take home a trophy and a sense of satisfaction after helping a family in need. The family has two young children.
Keith praised municipal workers for efforts to organize the event.
“The generosity of city employees has been just fantastic,” he said.
