Charlotte Schwenker
Charlotte Capen Schwenker died Nov. 5, 2009. She was 84.Services were Nov. 15, 2009, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Kirkland.
Charlotte was born July 13, 1925 in Long Branch, N.J., to Harold and Elsie Sickles. She grew up on the family farm in Little Silver, N.J. After graduating from Red Bank High School, she attended New Jersey College for Women (Rutgers) and earned a degree in journalism. She worked for the Frick Art Museum in New York City in the 1950s.
She married John Schwenker on April 18, 1954. She and John moved to Ellensburg in 1963.
Charlotte lived with her family in Issaquah from 1969-1980. She was a member of the altar guild at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Issaquah and later at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kirkland. She was a volunteer at Group Health, Meals on Wheels and was a poll worker for King County Elections. She loved to travel, play bridge and refinish old furniture. She was a good photographer and a great cook. She loved music, nature and the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband John.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by daughters Charlotte Weigel, Susan Petroskie and Carolyn Schroth; sons-in-law Randy Weigel and Greg Petroskie; four grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Adelaide Sickles; and several nieces and nephews.
