Emmy Tanska died Oct. 20, 2009 in Marysville, with her family by her side. She was 74.There will be a private service for family only.
She was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Kirkland.
She was preceded in death by her brother Leonard and parents Leonard and Mary Tanska.
She leaves behind her sister Jane and her husband Jim Merritt; five nephews with large extended family; three daughters, Carrie McQan, of Arlington, Wash., Jacquelyn Curnutt, of Everett, and Sherry Wofford; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
Emmy grew up in Pine Lake and graduated from Issaquah High School in 1953. She was a longtime resident of Bellevue, Seattle and Everett. Emmy worked in the restaurant industry for more than 40 years, 30 of those for Black Angus, and she was very loved by her customers.
Emmy worked very hard her whole life to raise her three girls by herself. Life was not easy, but she always had a big smile, a kind word and the best home-cooked meals for everyone.
Emmy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
