City readies snow plan before flakes fall
November 24, 2009
City officials readied plans last week to keep key roads open when cold and precipitation turn Issaquah into a winter wonderland — and cover streets in ice and snow.
With less than a month until winter begins, and with snow blanketing higher elevations, officials prepared plans to alert Issaquah residents and deploy plows when weather turns foul. For drivers who need to venture out in snow, officials recommended checking the city radio station, 1700-AM, emergency information phone line — 837-3028 — and a section of the city Web site devoted to winter weather for updates about road and weather conditions.

We’re gonna miss this when it’s all over

Hall Monitor Julianne Hay Skyline High School
It’s only November, but my fellow seniors are already counting down the days until graduation. Two hundred and three days, 202, 201…each day gets crossed off in our calendars with permanent markers. Once it’s crossed out, there is no going back.

However, with this realization comes the knowledge that this is it. After these 200-something days are up, our worlds will change forever. Goodbyes will fill the months of summer, car rides or plane flights will take us to our new destinations, and a whole new level of responsibility will kick in. Read more

Scoring early and often has been a hallmark of the Skyline High School football team as it won its way to state championships in recent years. But its performance in the quarterfinal match at Curtis Nov. 21 gave new meaning to its fervent play.
It was over before Curtis players knew what hit them.
The Spartans scored twice in the first two minutes of the game and led 49-0 at the halftime break. The enormous lead triggered a rule that kept the clock running in the second half. Skyline (10-2) came away with a 49-14 win to advance to the semifinal game against 4A KingCo Conference rival Bothell Nov. 28 at the Tacoma Dome.
“We’re just really excited the way the kids are playing right now,” Spartans coach Mat Taylor said. Read more
