Liberty swimmers win third straight meet

The Liberty High School boys swimming team won its third straight KingCo Conference meet Dec. 15 when the Patriots swamped Interlake 104-75.

Luke Duschl and Logan Briggs each won two events for the Patriots, who are 3-1 in KingCo competition this season. Duschl captured the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 01.08 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 54.22. He also swam anchor on the Patriots’ winning 400 freestyle relay. Raymond Ha, Kevin Hays and Shunya Asano were other members of the relay.

Briggs won the 50 freestyle in 23.37 and the 100 backstroke in 57.46.

Other Liberty first places came from Cameron Kaulia in diving and Ha in the 100 butterfly,

Hoop teams fall

Skyline and Issaquah boys basketball teams both lost Dec. 15 in 4A KingCo Conference action.

Skyline lost to football foe Bothell 57-54 in overtime. The Spartans made a valiant run in the fourth quarter after trailing by nine points at the end of the third period. Skyline outscored the host team 22-13 in the final quarter. The Spartans and Cougars, battled in the KingCo title game and the state semifinals during the football season, were tied at 50 all at the end of the fourth quarter.

Bothell outscored Skyline 7-4 in overtime.

Miles Edwards and Cory Hutsen each had 12 points to lead the Spartans.

Issaquah, also playing on the road, fell to Lake Washington 57-37. The contest was fairly close for three quarters. However, the host Kangaroos blew out Issaquah 24-12 in the fourth quarter,

Nick Price topped Issaquah with 11 points.
