Issaquah soccer team plays in state finals tomorrow

The BU-14 Issaquah Soccer Club Arsenal White team beat previously undefeated HAS WS Deportivo Moctezuma 3-2 in the semifinals of the Fred Meyer Commissioner State Cup on Feb. 14 at the Starfire Field in Tacoma.
Issaquah next plays for the state championship at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at the Starfire Stadium in Tukwila at the Starfire Sports Complex.
Everyone is invited and encourage to come and cheer on the team.

Issaquah WaMu branch robbed; FBI takes investigation

A man robbed the Gilman Boulevard Washington Mutual bank branch Feb. 17, brandishing a handgun before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Issaquah police received a call from the bank, 1195 N.W. Gilman Blvd., at 3:11 p.m. Officers arrived at the bank three minutes later, but were unable to locate the suspect. No injuries were reported.

Flood aid center opens at City Hall

Federal disaster-relief agencies opened an office at City Hall yesterday as part of the ongoing effort to recover from January’s flooding.
Officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration hope the office will serve as an information clearinghouse for flood victims seeking government disaster aid.
“Wherever there’s a need with people who have suffered damage, that’s where we want to be,” SBA communications specialist Roger Busch said.

Schools Foundation raises more than $70,000 in phone-a-thon

Issaquah School District student volunteers raised more than $70,000 Feb. 11 in a phone-a-thon for the Issaquah Schools Foundation.
More than 200 students from Issaquah, Liberty and Skyline high schools gathered to make phone calls to district families for donations to support Project GLAD, or Guided Language Acquisition Design Training.
