Franklin Delano Richard Kleingartner, 70, of Issaquah, died Dec. 25, 2009. He was 70.A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 7 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front St. S., Issaquah.

He was born in McClusky, N.D., on Jan. 30, 1939, to Edward and Bertha Kleingartner. Mr. Kleingartner graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1957. While serving in the Air National Guard, he attended North Dakota State University.

He began his career with The Boeing Co. in 1963, where he worked on a variety of projects, including the Lunar Rover. In 1995, he retired from The Boeing Co. as a construction manager.

Mr. Kleingartner married Dianne Thom of Minot, N.D., in 1964. He enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing and boating. He also collected and restored antique tractors and enjoyed demonstrating his sawmills at antique machinery shows. Frank was a devoted grandfather who doted on his three young granddaughters at every opportunity.

Frank is survived by his wife Dianne; daughters Elizabeth Kleingartner, of Sumner, Sara Miller, of Issaquah, and Mary Kleingartner, of Incline Village, Nev.; three granddaughters; siblings Olinda McCabe, MaryLou Levin, Bella McKenzie, Edward Kleingartner and Alan Kleingartner; and 27 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Gertrude, Dorothy and Alice; and brothers Herbert, Arthur and Dale.
